The management of the Port Harcourt refinery has clarified that the refinery is fully operational.
This was made public by the company’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Onoja after taking journalists on a tour of the facility on Sunday night.
According to him, the refinery had undergone extensive upgrades, stating that most of the equipment, including pump installation and cables, were replaced.
He stressed that the refinery has commenced truckout of petroleum products, including premium motor spirit, kerosene, and diesel.
“The refining plant has undergone extensive upgrades to enhance efficiency and reliability, which has also impacted production capacity.
“We replaced most of the equipment, including pump installation and cables.
“The plant is running, and we are trucking out our products,” he said.
This comes barely six days after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited announced that crude oil processing has commenced at Port Harcourt Refinery.
However, the commencement of Port Harcourt had sparked controversies on the viability of the plant.
There were claims that the refinery trucked out old stocks.
However, NNPCL had dismissed the claims.
